Hand

Hand as the name states is the human hand. It can be used alone or covered with various types of gloves, leather, vampire (a glove that has small metal points attached to the outside), or  fur.

 

Leather

 Leather is the most forgiving of all implements made from teh hide of various animals. Some of the most common skins that are used are:

 Deer- this is a very lightweight and softer hide used in lightweight floggers.

Elk- This hide is thincker than deer hide and is used mainly in floggers for the spanking fetish.

Cow-The most common hide used for all types of implements from paddles, straps and floggers. 

Buffalo-This hide is rugged but supple. It is a heavier weight leather than cow, deer or elk and is often used in floggers on the heavier end. The floggers made of buffalo hide tend to be more thuddy. 

Kangaroo-This hide is very strong but flexible. It is most commonly used for whips.

Wood

 Wood has many varieties from lightweight pine and bamboo to harder woods such as Cherry and cocobolo. Wood is usually fashioned into padlles, brushes or canes. Canes can range from very stingy to thuddy. Paddles are generally thuddy, while hairbrushes can run the full range from lightweight and stingy to heavy and thuddy. Wood can leave bruises.

Hairbrushes- there are many versions of hairbrushes both normal but in the beauty section of any mainstream store to old ebony or stainless steel hairbrushes manufactured in times gone by.

Paddles- These range in size from small pocket paddles and hairbrush paddles ( sized and shaped like hairbrushes but without the bristles, all the way to to fraternity paddles which are very long and heavy.

Rulers- These are teh run of the mill ruler found in the business/school supply section of most mainstream supply stores  to a straight formed piece of wood that is made specifically for spanking, often called ruler paddles due to their shape.

Canes- Originally long thin  items made of Rattan, now also made of other man made materials such as lexan or metal. They range from very thin whippy canes that sting and bite that runs in waves to the lage thick thumper variety that is all thus.

Man Made Materials

Lexan- Lexan is a very hard material made of polycarbonate, usually clear in nature and very unforgiving. You can also get it in a gray or bronze color on occasion. The material is usually shaped into paddles or canes. It can also be used as a stiffener. This material often leaves bruises. 

Polyeuethene - Polyeuethene comes in many different densities and colors. It is usually used in paddle or strap form. Due to it’s abundance of color options it can be a favorite of tops. It is very stingy in nature on the lighter density side and can become thuddy as well on teh higher density side. This material may leave bruises but is much more forgiving than Lexan or rubber

 

Metal- Stainless steel and aluminium are the two most common metals used for spabking/BDSM play.
